So far so good Very solid Flight Control System great item, works flawlessly X52 part2 great upgrade from the original Fully Capable Controller with tons. I bought this product for use with Microsoft's Flight Simulator, although I'm certain it would work quite well on other like applications. #Saitek x52 flight control system review upgrade

Program your controller for each game using the powerful Smart Technology software. I am very impressed not only by the responsiveness of the dual components, but the ease of creating profiles. Precision centering mechanism no contact technology on X and Y axes and constant spring force improve control 5 position handle adjustment system to suit all hand sizes with soft-touch, contoured grip for maximum gaming. This is not to say however, that creating profiles for products such as this is not a tedious process, but it is straight forward and easy to understand. If there are any shortcomings of this product I should think they rest in lack of available profiles for popular applications. I searched the web and was able to find only one profile for Flight Sim, but alas that was set for only one aircraft profile. It would be of great facility if there was perhaps a user shared site were users could upload profiles for other users according to apps.

#Saitek x52 flight control system review modĬons: May need mod for smooth fine joystick movementīeing a purchaser of the old F16 Flight System from Thrustmaster back about 1997, 1998, I am relatively pleased with the Saitek system in X-Plane 8.60 and now 9.Pros: Relatively inexpensive, overall nice feel for the price.I personally don't play first person shooters but I do have every certainty that a user would find this a good choice for those apps as well. Magnetic non-contact X and Y axis sensors provide enhanced longevity and improved accuracy. The only complaint I have is that the joystick is sticky when attempting small flight adjustments. A dual spring centering mechanism provides a progressive: smooth movement that further aids your control. Multifunction LCD Display affords even greater control of your navigation within Flight Simulator X: thanks to direct. It's great when you want to wail on the thing, it just doesn't have a smooth fine movement.

I wonder if there is anything out there with real ball-bearing, or needle-bearing surfaces. The bearing surfaces on the Saitek are plastic and there is a pretty strong spring above to ensure decent centering when hands-off. I have experimented on this joystick by holding the spring-plate up while flying and I get remarkable control. I've tried talcum powder and several other lubricants to ease the movement (non-conductive of course), but I've not arrived at anything that does well. I tried shortening the spring by cutting a ring off of it, but the steel used for this spring defies my nippers. I think this is my next experiment, but I need to obtain a small enough phillips screw-driver to remove the spring do I can apply a hack-saw or something.
